The Libertarian Party (LP) is the party of principle.
We believe words have meaning, and that one should
stand for what he believes in, as well as the political party he
joins. This party believes in individual liberty and
responsibility, and defends property rights to defend those
liberties, and hold individuals accountable, as well as defending
universal rights of individuals. We freely acknowledge that
the Libertarian Party is not for everyone. Consequently, we
have standards for our members.
As of 2005, membership in the LP has been a bit
complicated. It used to be that joining the
National Libertarian Party (LNC)
automatically made you a member of the Libertarian
Party of Connecticut (LPCT). This is no longer the
case, for various reasons. Moreover, one can
register his party affiliation as Libertarian on the voter roles
without joining the LP. Just like any other party, more people
are registered Libertarian than are members of the LP.
You have the option to join the National Party (LNC), the
Connecticut Party (LPCT), or both. If you wish to join the LNC,

As per Article II of the
LPCT bylaws,
one can become a member or associate member of the LPCT. To
become a member, one has to be a resident of Connecticut, agree
with the Aims and Purpose as set out in the bylaws, and sign the
following statement: "I hereby certify that I do not believe
in or advocate the initiation of force to achieve political, social,
or economic goals." The annual dues for membership are $25.00,
but if paid by PayPal.com, $30.00. To

The other membership option is associate
membership. Essentially, it is the same, but without the
voting privileges of members in meeting, except committees they were
appointed to, and cannot sit on the State Central Committee (SCC) or
the Judicial Committee. The requirements to be an associate
member are the same as member, but one does not have to be
resident of Connecticut and does not have to pay any annual dues.
To become an associate member,
print this form, and send it to:

Each member is eligible to be appointed to the SCC
or Judicial Committee, or any ad hoc Committees or organizations,
and to make appeal to any of those constituted bodies just
mentioned.
